Marlene Christina Paton (aged 75) sadly passed away at Accord Hospice on Monday 13th April 2009. She had a long battle with many illnesses and passed away peacefully whilst sleeping.
A wonderful, kind, caring and beautiful person. Marlene touched the lives of so many people and was an inspiration and example to us all. She worked hard, loved long and accepted all.
Marlene was an amazing mother to Colin, Stephen, Callum, Ronald and Stuart who she loved dearly and was greatly proud of each of them. She had a big heart and a big family. She was a loving grandmother to David, Johanne, Stephanie, Jennifer, Kim, Bethan, Daniel, Michael, Marlon, Lynda-Anne, Jacquie and Simon. Also, a great-grandmother to Dylin, Kyle, Jae, Callum and Izzy.
Marlene worked as a nurse for most of her life and took great pride in her job. She loved and cared for the elderly and always stood up for those less able. She a was a fair and noble person who disliked injustices. She met the love of her life and father of her children, Iain whilst working. She was a very traditional woman who loved and lost only one man in her life. Iain sadly passed away in April 1981 and patiently waited years for her. She is finally back in his arms forever.
Marlene travelled the world where she experienced some of her happiest times. She was nicknamed ‘queen of the markets’ for her love of bargaining with the traders. Although, if you knew her she probably just liked being referred to as the queen she was!
Marlene was always there for her friends and family. To love, guide and support them. She was the kind of person you could talk to about anything and she would never judge you or be shocked at what you said. Marlene was a happy person who smiled a lot. Just being with her made you feel the same.
Marlene; my gran. If you knew her, you loved her. I am forever grateful that she let me share her life with her. I am proud to call her my gran and blessed to have been able to call her my friend. I cannot thank her enough for all the love, support and advice over the years, I am eternally grateful. Gran was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and I only hope we continue to make her proud.
I will cherish the treasured memories of my gran forever. She lives on in our hearts and I will smile just when I think of her. For all the times she stood by me, the joy she brought to my life and the laughs we had (spider talk, Indian food, spider eating).

Christmas 2011 without you
Hi Marlene, its seems quite unbelievable sometimes to think that so much time has gone by since we last saw you. Were only just talking to Stuart the other day saying how much christmas has changed since you be gone. There is no christmas cheer, we just go with the flow and hope that you know and can see how much you are loved and missed. Will never forget how ready you always were to make things better for everyone whenever you could, always ready to carry the burden to make sure everyone elses load was managable. Miss you more than you know, especially this time of year when we should be with the ones we love.

Haven,t been on here for a while Marlene so thought id come and let you know we still think and talk about you often, still miss the visits you made especially now christmas is coming up, always reminds me of you because you always wanted to make sure everyone was happy. I guess you can see whats happening at the moment, decisions decisions but i know you be there to guide Stusrt in the right direction whatever he chooses to do, he deserves some luck lately. Continue to watch over all those who love and miss you being in their lives, miss you Marlene, love always xxxx

Miss you so much and wish deep within my heart you were here to meet my beautiful rainbow of love and hope - she is just perfect. It hurts so much as I know you would have loved her. I know you would be so proud too as she has your middle name, you would have been so happy about that. Well, I will go for now but I just hope you know how much I love and miss you and how much I think of you. Sleep tight, you were truely an amazing person and you live on in my memories and you will continue to be spoken about in our home for years to come xxx

Happy Birthday Granny P, its a good time to reflect on all the things you done for not only Stuart and i but for everyone else, its true what they say you never know what you,ve got till its gone, we miss you loads, we,ve sent a card up to Steph to put on your stone as we know Steph goes up regular even though she,s got her wee ray of sunshine to sort out now, bet she beautiful, i got her picture in a frame with the rest of my collection but can,t wait to see her in the flesh as they say, i know you,ll keep all 3 of them in your special care, don,t get up to scotland half as much as we would like to as our work schedule doesn,t allow it. I guess you,ve seen how Stuart is doing, im sure you are so proud of him, as one door closes another one opens Gran and i know if your watching over him you,ll know how much he tries. He was saying earlier in the week how much he wishes he could come more often, so we,ve decided to build a little memorial place down here in the garden for you, so that we can light candles etc in your memory anytime we want to, after all we know your not just in Scotland, we know you head south as well to get some sunshine (smile). Watch over, guide and protect those who have shown that true love never dies, miss you Granny P, have you seen my Marlon yet?

Been thinking of you loads, especially now Stephanie is ready to have her wee baby, watch over her and Paul as they enter parenthood and continue to guide them in the right direction, we miss you and always talk about you, so much still reminds us of you. As you know we,ve got a new adventure coming up for stuart and i and im sure between you and Marlon you can sort something....nudge nudge, wink wink.

I am sorry I have not been on to leave you a message but you know why.... There are no words to describe how much I wish you were here with us and how much I miss you. I think about you each and every day and how lucky I was to have you in my life as my gran and as my friend x I miss you so much gran, especially now when we are between your anniversary and you birthday. I cant believe you missed my wedding by only 12 weeks and now, we are 2 years on....It feels like I lost you yesterday. Love you always xxx
